Meet Brittany

I completed my Alternative Dispute Resolution certification from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law in May of 2023. Prior to USC, I had over a decade of experience working in Education as a college admissions counselor, dual credit program coordinator, and an AmeriCorps corps member.

Personally, I grew up as a self-identified Deaf person and consider myself as someone who has subscribed to the benefits of the Special and Deaf Education Systems in the United States. I have experienced a range of educational settings, from being in an oral program at a rural school in a Special Education class, to receiving academic instruction via the Total Communication method, and attending Schools for the Deaf in Maryland (5 years) and California (7 years).

After attending college at California State University Northridge for a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, I remained in Rochester, New York for a decade in a variety of roles.

I started out as an admissions counselor at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf stationed at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I visited well over three hundred high schools with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. Alternatively, on my travels, I also had the opportunity to visit Schools for the Deaf in France, Cambodia, and Vietnam and to participate in the Deaflympics games hosted in Taipei, Taiwan in 2009.

When I relocated to Los Angeles, CA in December of 2020, I experienced a divorce. As a part of the process, I had a mediated agreement that resulted in a settlement agreement. The challenges I experienced navigating our legal system during the pandemic with limited access to American Sign Language interpreters and resources brought me to a new path in life: becoming a mediator.

I am honored you are visiting my page and I would love to connect.
